Initial Seismic Assessment (ISA) or Detailed Seismic Assessment (DSA)?
“The improved seismic strengthening programme resulted in a building that met code requirements while limiting disruption to tenants and delivering significant cost savings of almost 50% to the client.”

An Initial Seismic Assessment (ISA) provides a broad indication of the expected performance of a building, taking into account its type and age of construction, local seismicity, ground conditions and usage. An ISA will give your building an overall %NBS rating (percentage of New Building Standard).
A Detailed Seismic Assessment (DSA) typically follows an ISA where more information or reliability is sought, but the assessments can be carried out independently, without the need for the other. A DSA is a more detailed quantitative appraisal than the ISA, that seeks to establish the seismic performance of a building. It will also typically include an initial scope of remedial works to increase the %NBS rating to the desired level.
